The estate
Arthur Gras represents the new generation at Domaine Alain Gras, founded in 1979 in Saint-Romain, Burgundy. This family-run estate spans 15 hectares across Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, and Meursault. Now managed by the family—Alain, Nathalie, and Arthur (who joined in 2020)—the domaine favors sustainable viticulture with hand harvesting and traditional barrel aging.
The vineyard
Clos de Verger is an almost-monopole located immediately adjacent to the village of Pommard. This Premier Cru climat enjoys full southern exposure that is particularly warm in the mid-afternoon, on a gentle slope. The vineyard covers 0.3292 hectares and is planted to 40-year-old Pinot Noir vines.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for Pommard Premier Cru “Clos de Verger” 2023 are harvested by hand. Vinification includes 20% whole clusters and a 10-day maceration with pump-overs and punch-downs, followed by pneumatic pressing. Aging takes place entirely in barrels for 12 months prior to bottling, with a limited production of 2,000 bottles.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
