The Estate

The Caiarossa estate is located near the charming medieval village of Riparbella on the west coast of Tuscany facing the sea. This estate is distinguished by its production of exceptional Italian wines, crafted with strict respect for the environment and according to biodynamic principles. Since 2004, the estate has belonged to the Albada Jelgersma family, also owners of Château Giscours in Margaux, an emblematic reference of Bordeaux’s Left Bank.

The Vineyard

This Tuscan estate cultivates a 16-hectare vineyard, gently sloping towards the sea.

Wine

As the estate’s flagship cuvée, Caiarossa is an IGT toscana wine originating from a mosaic of parcels, intended to reveal the richness and singularity of Italy’s great terroirs.

Vintage

The climate on the Tuscan coast was marked by a mild winter, a rainy spring, followed by a hot, sunny summer. A period of refreshing rains in August allowed a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. At harvest, ideal conditions enabled the picking of high-quality grapes, resulting in a vintage with velvety tannins that is well-balanced and elegant.

Vinification and Aging

The grapes are hand-harvested. Vinification is carried out parcel by parcel in concrete and wooden vats, with slow fermentations and delicate extractions. After malolactic fermentation, the wines are blended and then aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.

Blend

Cabernet franc (32%), syrah (26%), cabernet sauvignon (17%), merlot (12%), sangiovese (7%), petit verdot (5%) and grenache (1%).
