A refined and complex Grand Cru from the Côte de Nuits

The estate

Founded in 1720 by cooper Edme Champy, Champy remains Burgundy’s oldest négociant house. Recently acquired by the Advini group, the house has been led by Dimitri Bazas since 2014, supported by José Ramalho, cellar master since 1982. A historic pioneer, Champy now stands out for its biodynamic commitment, with 50% of the vineyard organic-certified. Its 15th-century cellars house a kilometer of underground galleries.

The vineyard

The Echézeaux appellation covers 34.8 hectares spread between the villages of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux, in the Côte de Nuits. Classified as a Grand Cru, this vineyard lies at an altitude between 230 and 300 meters. The soils form a complex mosaic of gravel, red silts and marl, offering Pinot Noir ideal conditions to express all its finesse and elegance.

The vintage

The 2011 vintage in Burgundy was marked by contrasting weather conditions, requiring special attention in the vineyards to achieve grapes at optimal ripeness.

Vinification and aging

The Echezeaux Grand Cru 2011 is made using traditional Burgundian methods, allowing Pinot Noir to fully express the unique character of this exceptional terroir.

Grape variety

This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
