Vinum

Defined by roasted notes, backed by ripe cassis and blackberry; approachable palate, fine-grained tannins, very silky, good length. A real charmer.

James Molesworth

An understated, perfumed style, with sandalwood and black tea notes leading the way for gently mulled red and black currant fruit flavors. Shows a pretty autumnal feel through the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2032. 8,600 cases made.

Some toasty notes here with grilled herbs and black plum fruit. It’s medium-bodied with firm, fine tannins and a creamy and spicy finish. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink or hold.

Weinwisser

72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot. Alluring bouquet, ripe blackcurrant, Brazil tobacco, graphite and Sichuan pepper. On the generous palate, a soft texture, ripe extract richness, supporting freshness and medium body. A focused finish with impressive concentration, refined cassis spice, juniper and minimal astringency. A rock‑solid choice from the Haut-Médoc with a large fan base.

Grilled, toasted oak notes; this has been made in a reductive style and really takes a lot of work to open up (needed two samples and a good half hour, although this is not always unusual with En Primeur samples). Bright fruits, gently worked tannins, an emphasis on spice and smoke. Treasury Wine Estates. 42 hl/ha yield.

The Wine Independent

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2021 Cambon la Pelouse is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It delivers oaky overtones, leading to hints of redcurrants and raspberry leaves, plus a touch of wet dirt. The light-bodied palate is chewy and oaky, with subtle fruit and a woody finish.

La RVF

The 2021 is dominated by vanilla-accented, bacon-like oak that gives it a very international profile. Is this the château’s new stylistic direction? We think it’s a pity to dress up a wine to this extent when the juice itself is not lacking in interest.

Le Figaro Vin

Very toasted on the nose, strongly marked by oak, then rich and opulent on the palate, with aromas of mocha and toasted bread.

Vertdevin

The nose is fruity, elegant, and offers juiciness, a certain brightness, and fine power. It reveals notes of crushed wild blackberry, crushed strawberry and, more delicately, camphor, combined with hints of pepper and lily, as well as fine touches of nutmeg and a discreet hint of vanilla. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, minerality, elegance, harmony, a tangy/juicy backbone, precision, a certain silkiness, an airy feel, and a fine, very discreetly tight grain. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry and juicy/tangy blackcurrant, and more subtly violet and cornflower, combined with touches of graphite and toasted almond, with a subtle hint of sweet blond tobacco and vanilla. Good length.
