Description
Typicity of a Premier Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion by Canon-La-Gaffelière
The property
The Château Canon-La-Gaffelière is a prestigious wine estate founded in the 17th century in the Bordeaux region. Located south of the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, Château Canon-La-Gaffelière has been under the direction of Stephan von Neipperg since 1983. Belonging to a German family steeped in viticulture for nearly eight centuries, Stephan von Neipperg manages Château Canon-La-Gaffelière with passion and skill following a resolutely modern approach to viticulture.
The vineyard
At the foot of the slopes of Saint-Émilion, the estate has a 19.75-hectare vineyard planted on clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils. Managed by plot, the atypical vineyard receives all necessary attention and is farmed under certified organic agriculture.
Winemaking and aging
Harvest from September 17 to October 29. Fermentation in wooden vats. Extraction by pneumatic pigeage. Aging on fine lees is carried out in barrels (60% new).
Blend
The Château Canon-La-Gaffelière 2020 is produced from a blend of merlot (55%), cabernet franc (30%) and cabernet sauvignon (15%).
