Château Corbin 2021

Initially reductive, deep, with a Burgundian feel, featuring violet and redcurrant. The palate is slender, with marked yet fine tannins, showing finesse, harmony and very good length. Delicate!

Perfumed floral notes with raspberry and fragrant cherry – smells pretty. Lean and initially quite sharp, lightly presented with a creamy, salty mineral texture balancing the high acidity. It’s a little subdued, however, not as fruit-forward as some or carrying much weight, but it’s focused and keeps the same balance all the way through with a minty, fresh finish. Everything is well presented, just dialed down. While you’re not getting dense, plush fruit, this has great and easy drinkability.

A soft and straightforward red showing notes of red berry fruit, oranges, walnuts and licorice. Medium-bodied and lightly chewy. Lighter this year. Drink in 2024.

Elegant, fresh, and refined, the wine is vibrant, energetic, and almost crisp, with lift to the core of red fruits on the mid-palate that carries through to the spice-tinged finish. Drink from 2024–2032.

A finesse-driven, elegant wine in the vintage, the 2021 Château Corbin (90/10 Merlot and Cabernet Franc) offers up a pretty, perfumed bouquet of crisp strawberries, framboise, rose petals, and flowers. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, seamless mouthfeel, fine tannins, and outstanding length. This is one of those wines that grows on you with time in the glass and will put a smile on your face any time over the coming 10-12 years.

Ruby-rose in colour, medium-bodied, with the emphasis on fresh, fragrant fruit. There is a sweetness as it opens through the mid-palate, with red cherry, cola, cigar, tomato leaf, violet, orange peel and a juicy finish. The 2021 Corbin is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of sautéed herbs, tar, rubber, and black pepper lead to hints of plum preserves and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate is chewy, with herb-laced black fruits and just enough freshness, finishing savory.

In this challenging vintage, Anabelle Cruse Bardinet has crafted a wine of great purity that opens on ripe, rounded fruit, highlighted by delicate floral notes of iris, rose, and violet, like a charming bouquet. Finesse and elegance carry through a lace-like texture, threaded with a fresh, tangy line reminiscent of just-picked red fruit juice. The finish is airy and precise, finely chiseled.

Corbin clearly reflects its limestone terroir through chalky notes complemented by a touch of blackberry. Juicy and approachable, the wine has reliable, precise tannins that lend it some breadth and energy. A wine that unfolds in a crescendo; it deserves a bit of air.

Logo on the cork: an inverted T (Trescases) Dark colour, medium intensity and bright. The nose is a little discreet, slightly reduced, fruity and smoky. Delicately fleshy on the attack, with a classy texture and a fine, lingering aroma that is unsuspected on the nose, the wine develops with good structure, delicately rich, towards an unspittable finish, with notes of raspberry and liquorice. A different expression in Saint Emilion.

Medium deep ruby red colour. Pure and fragrant nose with floral red fruit, crushed plum, cassis and mild spices. The palate is soft and supple, digest red fruit with mild tannin, succulent and persistent finish.

This is a seriously structured wine. Bold tannins and ripe black fruits come together in a wine that is solid while keeping a light touch of acidity. It needs to age further, so wait to drink until 2027.

The 2021 Corbin matured in around 20% new oak, as well as some old barrels, cement tanks and wine globes. Unwinding in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of wild berries, spices, petals and vine smoke, it’s medium-bodied, supple and charming, in a perfumed, middle-weight style.
