Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Fixin Village 2024 Château de Marsannay

Tasting

Colour
This red wine from France reveals a beautiful ruby hue with remarkable depth.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with delicate floral notes of violet, harmoniously blended with red fruit aromas such as blackcurrant and morello cherry.

Palate
Both robust and delicate, the palate offers a texture of great finesse. It proves wonderfully round while asserting an exceptional richness.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with meats such as roast pork, grilled beef, or refined game. It also goes very well with slow-cooked dishes such as a tagine, as well as characterful cheeses like Époisses.

Service and Storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Fixin Village 2024 at a temperature between 12 and 13°C. It can be enjoyed in its youth, but has the structure needed to develop in the cellar and can be enjoyed until around 2034.

The Precision and Delicacy of a Burgundy Wine by Château de Marsannay

The Estate

Located at the gateway to the Côte de Nuits, Château de Marsannay is an essential estate in Burgundy, France. Although its lands boast an ancient winegrowing heritage, the official creation of the current structure dates back to 1990. The estate now oversees a 40-hectare vineyard, farmed entirely according to organic principles. Since its acquisition in 2012, the property has been run by Olivier Halley, its current owner, who brings a dynamic focus on excellence, respect for terroir, and a sustainable environmental approach.

The Vineyard

This cuvée comes from a very small 0.25-hectare plot located within the Fixin appellation. Facing due south to capture optimal sunlight, the vines thrive at the base of the slope. They grow on a complex terroir made up of a clay-limestone substrate mixed with conical scree, giving the wine all its distinctiveness and tension.

The Vintage

2024 proved particularly demanding from a weather standpoint. The growing cycle was marked by relentless spring rains, high fungal disease pressure, as well as localised hail episodes and uneven flowering. Despite these climatic challenges, which led to a significant drop in yields, the harvested grapes made it possible to craft wines of great purity, marked by freshness and a beautiful transparency of terroir.

Winemaking and Aging

True to the estate's philosophy, this Fixin Village 2024 benefits from a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. Vinification is carried out plot by plot to scrupulously respect the identity and natural expression of this specific terroir.

Grape Variety

100% Pinot Noir.
