Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Marsannay Village "Champs Perdrix" 2025 from Château de Marsannay
Tasting
Color
This wine reveals a pale gold hue, bright and limpid, reminiscent of the finest Chardonnays crafted on the heights of the Côte de Nuits.
Nose
The nose is charming and precise, revealing notes of yellow-fleshed fruits such as peach and apricot, accompanied by hints of citrus and white flowers, over a chalky background evoking wet stone, in perfect harmony with the limestone nature of the terroir.
Palate
The palate captivates with a round, generous attack, carried by an ample texture, before extending into a pronounced mineral tension that leads to a saline, long and mouthwatering finish, typical of upper-slope terroirs.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with seafood such as oysters, shellfish or grilled fish, but also works very well with a dish based on avocado and salmon, white meat in a crust, or fresh goat's cheese. It can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.
Serving and Cellaring
As the Marsannay Village "Champs Perdrix" 2025 is still at an early stage of its development, no cellaring recommendation can be given at this time. It is best served chilled, in order to fully reveal its mineral tension and aromatic freshness.
A Taut and Mineral White Marsannay from Château de Marsannay
The Estate
The Château de Marsannay is a Burgundy estate built in 1990 by André Boisseau on the Route des Grands Crus, in Marsannay-la-Côte, at the gates of Dijon. Since 2012, it has belonged to the Halley family, who also own Château de Meursault. The estate now farms 40 hectares of organically cultivated vines, spread across the Marsannay appellation and prestigious climats of the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, with a firmly agroecological approach and meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification.
The Vineyard
The Marsannay Village "Champs Perdrix" comes from the climat of the same name, located on the upper slope of the Marsannay appellation, at an altitude of around 350 metres. This 1.2-hectare plot lies on Comblanchien limestone, with shallow, clayey soil, and enjoys a south-east exposure conducive to even ripening of the Chardonnay. The vines are farmed organically, with respect for the soils and the surrounding biodiversity.
Vinification and Ageing
For the Marsannay Village "Champs Perdrix" 2025, the grapes are hand-harvested and then sorted on a table before being pressed in a pneumatic press, ensuring a gentle and gradual extraction of the juice. The must then undergoes static settling for about twelve hours, without the addition of enzymes, before alcoholic fermentation at low temperature. Ageing continues in oak barrels, around 20% of which are new, on full lees with lees stirring if necessary, for approximately eleven months, followed by seven months in tank before bottling.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay.
