Vinum

What a bouquet: raspberries, blackberries, cherries, smoky notes, blood oranges, plenty of minerality; on the palate, full-bodied, expansive, incredibly powerful, with excellent tannin quality, impressively compact, with great length and a spicy finish. A truly great Château de Pressac.

Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

A lushly fruited red, with dark plum and boysenberry preserve notes, this glides along with grace and focus as black tea, dried anise and violet details fill in throughout. Shows subtle energy through the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Malbec. Best from 2026 through 2037. 10,200 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

Decanter

Intensely ripe and floral notes on the nose. This has such a lovely texture and weight, silky smooth with high acidity and a bouncy frame. Clean and crystalline with juicy cherries and strawberries with touches of slate and wet stone. Incredibly refined and focused but with an easy enjoyment. Not too tense, this has plenty of structure and power but delivers it well. Drink it slightly cool to emphasize the crispness. Lovely. 2% Carmenere, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec complete the blend.

Vinous

Antonio Galloni

The 2022 de Pressac is a wild, exotic wine, as it so often is. Soaring aromatics make a strong first impression. Rich, deep and vibrant, the 2022 has a lot to offer, but it also needs time to come together. Blood orange, sage, mint, mocha, espresso and dried herbs blossom nicely with time in the glass. This is notably savory in character.

Floral, elegant, refined, and silky, the wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, and pure, with a beautiful, soft, cherry-packed finish. Drink from 2025–2040.

Bright dark purple core and hue. Pure and intense nose offering chalk, truffle, blackberry, cassis, fine tobacco and stylish oak. The palate shows plenty of weight and density paired with refreshing acidity and highly polished tannins, flavour-intense and bright with succulent dark fruit and a very long, pure finish.

Black cherries, red plums, spicy oak, and savory herb notes all emerge from the 2022 Château De Pressac, another ripe, medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated 2022 in the vintage that brings ample mid-palate depth, building yet ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Despite all its richness and depth, it holds onto a wonderful sense of freshness and minerality, and I suspect this will evolve gracefully for 20+ years in cold cellars. It needs an hour in a decanter if drinking anytime soon.

Weinwisser

Seductive bouquet of freshly picked blueberry, captivating violet, blackberry jam and licorice. On the palate, firm and athletic, with a straight, focused profile and a tightly knit tannic framework. The concentrated finish reveals wild cherry, dark graphite and a noble astringency, lifted by a salty extract. A magnificent performance by Jean-François Quenin.

Sleek and well-judged, rippled with spiced sandalwood, liquorice, espresso, cocoa bean, well balanced and supported by juicy damson and dark berry fruits, with lift and mint-leaf coolness, aided by its location in St Etienne de Lisse. Always a good-quality St Emilion, consistently impressive. Hubert de Boüard consultant, Jean-François Quenin owner, 50% new oak, 5% amphora.

Le Figaro Vin

A luscious nose evoking Black Forest cake, followed by a fine, succulent palate that is both opulent and precise, offering a round, caressing texture.

The finesse and freshness of the bouquet speak volumes about Château de Pressac’s ability to perform even in extreme vintages, like the 2022—great, yet hot and dry. The sleek, silky attack heralds an elegant, moreish, mouthwatering wine. Its perfectly integrated tannins bring vigor and potential, while a subtle austerity extends the finish and spotlights its aromatic expression.

Dark, intense, purple color. Very aromatic nose, delicate, fruity, pure, both ripe and fresh. Broad on the attack, melting at mid-palate, highly aromatic and juicy, constantly supported by a fine, silky feel; the structure is remarkable. The wine expresses the suavity of its terroir while bouncing off complex, delicate, perfumed, noble flavors. It's brilliant. Very long, seamless finish. Blend: 70% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 10% Carmenère, 1% Malbec, 0.5% Petit Verdot.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Deep dark ruby garnet colour with an opaque core and purple reflections, delicate brightening at the rim. Dark berries, hints of ripe cherries, fine savouriness, some nougat, inviting, multi-faceted bouquet. Powerful, juicy, ripe blackberries, fresh, very persistent, mineral and salty on the finish, with certain ageing potential for many years.
