Vinum

What a seductive bouquet, highly complex, deep, with a wonderful freshness of expression; the palate is elegant, light-footed, precise, aromatically very complex, with great harmony and an impressive length, making this wine one of the insider tips of the vintage.

Robert Parker

Yohan Castaing

With delicate notes of ripe apricot, mango, spices and ripe white peach, the 2022 Doisy Daëne possesses a medium- to full-bodied, enrobing and complex palate with a delicately fleshy core of fruit enhanced by bright acids and a long, mineral and fresh finish. This blend of 95% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc is a well-executed classic Barsac with freshness and tension. It should age gracefully over the next 30 years.

Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

A bright white, with freshly sliced pineapple, candied lemon peel, orange blossom and elderflower honey notes seamlessly entwined. There's a pretty accent of salted butter on the generous finish. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2045. 2,000 cases made, 80 cases imported.

Decanter

Lively and energetic, a lifted expression with bitter orange peel countering the pineapple and mango fruit. Lovely complexity and construction, an unctuous, almost sherbet-like mid-palate that then becomes more mineral and focused. Feels well crafted with lots of life and definition as well as richness. Lots to like here. 150 g/l residual sugar. 3.75 g total acidity.

Vibrant, sweet, and mineral-accented, with pineapples, vanilla, lemon curd, yellow plum, and honey all on fire here! Perfectly balanced between its sweet and fresh side, this is a serious sweet treat! Drink from 2025-2050. 94-96 pts.

Light golden yellow, silver reflections. Fresh tangerine and grapefruit residues, white tropical fruit, mineral bouquet. Juicy, elegant sweetness, some gooseberries, white fruit, fine acidity, elegant finish, shows length and certain ageing potential.

Excellent quality, powerful yet restrained, luscious and opulent yet shot through with a slate and pumice texture. Great quality. It has that grated ginger you really need in 2022 to help the sweet wine take off; it’s here in spades. Love it.

Le Figaro Vin

A pure, shimmering nose with aromas of apple, citrus and yellow nectarine. Fresh and radiant on the palate: a beautiful wine.

Doisy Daëne works in detail and subtlety. It has never liked to raise its voice, leaving that to l’Extravagant (which of course has a very dignified elocution). The oak, nougat nuances, roasted almonds, rooty tones, and notes of nectarines and apricots create a synergy and symbiosis that are almost electoral; you naturally want to vote for it! And on top of that, it keeps its promises! The palate is fresh, saline, almost slender, while still delivering healthy breadth. The whole is underpinned by carrying bitters that generate freshness, tension, and liveliness. A wine of exceptional level. Barsac clearly stands out in 2022. What a demonstration by JJ Dubourdieu and his team.

The nose is elegant, fruity and delicate. It reveals notes of candied peach, crushed apricot and small notes of berries in syrup, combined with discreet notes of sap, a subtle hint of raisin and fine notes of fresh candied ginger. The palate is well-built, supple, fresh, mineral, balanced, elegant, airy, and offers a fresh backbone. On the palate, this wine shows notes of candied ginger, candied peach and small notes of lychee in syrup, combined with touches of roasted pineapple, fine notes of berries in syrup, as well as a subtle hint of lemon blossom, verbena, fine notes of fresh honey, flowers and a very discreet, almost gingerbread-like note (in the background). Good length. A lovely creamy, indulgent texture.

Golden yellow colour. Great, complex nose. Broad on the attack, melting on the mid-palate, fruity and vanilla-toned, the wine develops juicy and powerful, while remaining supple, from mid-palate through the finish. Very good sappy length with a fine thread. Blend: 95% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon. Alcohol: 13.3% – pH: 3.86. Residual sugar: 138 g/L.
