Description
An aromatic and elegant white Vin de France
The estate
Since Eric Albada Jelgersma acquired Tertre in late 1997, considerable investments have been made to enhance this exceptional terroir of rare homogeneity. The estate has been run since January 2021 by the Helfrich family, who manage the négociant company Les Grands Chais de France.
The vineyard
Produced as a Vin de France, Tertre Blanc 2020 comes from a 3.86-hectare vineyard. The terroir, made up of light gravel and deep sand, preserves a freshness that is the hallmark of this wine, even in hot, dry conditions.
Vinification and ageing
Hand-harvested. Manual and optical sorting. Crushed, non-destemmed grapes. Inert-gas pressing with selection of the first press juices. One third of the fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, then in barrels. Ageing lasts 6 months in 225-litre and 500-litre barrels. Ageing on the lees includes lees stirring once a week.
Blend
Tertre Blanc 2020 is a blend of Gros Manseng (20%), Chardonnay (27%), Sauvignon Blanc (33%) and Viognier (20%).
Tasting
Nose
The nose authentically expresses the characteristics of each grape variety in the blend. The Sauvignon Blanc elegantly reveals tension and complexity, with notes of boxwood and fresh mint. The honeyed and acacia blossom fragrances of the Chardonnay mingle with the mouthwatering salinity typical of Gros Manseng, as well as with the delicate floral notes of the Viognier.
Palate
Lively and mouthwatering, the palate delights with its persistence, rich aromatic expression and tangy texture.
