Vinum

Reductive nose with a pronounced oaky note; soft attack, sweet fruit core, silky tannins, good length, yet again clearly marked by wood. Could improve further with maturation.

Yves Beck

Covering 2 hectares, the La Fleur de Gay vineyard lies on clay and gravel soils. The bouquet gradually unfolds with nuances of blackcurrant and blackberry. Medium-bodied, the wine combines charm and vitality. It is balanced and inviting, supported by perfectly integrated tannins. An elegant wine that can already be enjoyed in its youth, while also offering fine ageing potential. A lingering finish.

Reserved on the first nose, but with plenty of sappy fruits, this has character and juice, not the full generosity of this estate in bigger vintages, but they have carefully controlled their extraction, just hint of bitter fennel on finish that adds focus.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Deep, intense color, bright purple. A very aromatic nose with ripe, complex fruit. Creamier when the glass is swirled. Delicate on entry, particularly flavorful on the mid-palate, with a fine, silky richness that runs across the palate; the wine then develops smoothly into a long, sapid and fragrant finish. A delight. Blend: 90% merlot, 10% cabernet franc. Alcohol: 12.6% – pH: 3.7. Looking back over this wine’s history, note how the addition of 10% cabernet franc changes and elevates its overall profile.
