    Description

    A full-bodied Saint-Julien wine with silky tannins

    The estate

An emblematic reference of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Lagrange is rooted in a multi-millennial history. Since Gallo-Roman times, the site hosted a "Villa Rustica" before the Order of the Knights Templar developed vine cultivation there. The estate reached its zenith in the 18th century, crowned in 1855 by its classification as a Third Growth. In 1983, it joined the Japanese group Suntory under the leadership of its president Keizo Saji. A comprehensive renovation campaign, combined with an ambitious team, has since enabled Château Lagrange to assert itself among the great names of the Médoc.

    The vineyard

The vineyard of Château Lagrange covers 118 hectares in the appellation Saint-Julien. The vines lie on a silico-gravelly soil with a clay-limestone subsoil. This terroir, combined with the region's temperate oceanic climate, favors slow and even grape maturation, giving the wines their distinctive character.

    The vintage

The 2024 vintage was distinguished by capricious weather that tested the expertise of the winemakers. Despite these challenges, the teams adapted to changing climatic conditions, demonstrating remarkable resilience. The harvest, carried out from September 24 to October 8, 2024, allowed for grapes that fully expressed the terroir's potential.

    Winemaking and aging

Rigorous plot-by-plot and sub-plot selection. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo two sorting stages (manual and optical). Fermentation takes place in 102 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 26–28 °C for 18 to 25 days. Aging lasts 21 months with 50 % new barrels.

    Blend

This Château Lagrange 2024 is the ftuit of a Blend of 84 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Merlot and 6 % Petit Verdot.
