    Decanter

Floral and herbal on the nose with dark bramble fruit. Very Cabernet. Milk chocolate and vanilla too. Charming and relaxed with lovely tannin finesse. There’s ripeness and richness; this is silky with some fleshiness that adds a layer of texture but overall feels gentle and calm. Some bite at the end, wet stone and liquorice, but overall this feels very complete. I like this expression, really not trying too hard. Sophisticated. Balanced. Nothing sticks out, and although there’s tension and a sense of high, lean acidity, the tannins do well to balance it out. This will be very enjoyable. Accomplished winemaking. 3% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Ageing 75% new oak for 18 months in French oak barrels. pH 3.67.

Flowers, spicy notes, herbs, menthol, peppery currants, and espresso on the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, and zesty, with a nice burst of chewy currants, a touch of orange rind, and a hint of peppery mint that arrives at the end of the finish, adding a refreshing lift to the backend. Classic in style (classic in a good way), this is quite successful for the vintage. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. 3.67 pH. The harvest took place from September 13 to October 4. Yields were only 30 hectoliters per hectare. The Grand Vin was made from 60% of the crop. Picking took place from September 25 to October 8. Drink from 2029–2055. 92–94 pts

    Le Figaro Vin

Like a dandy in a garnet velvet smoking jacket, the nose unfolds a magnificent floral perfume and sweet, seductive fruit, with notes of raspberry jam and red plum. Nuances of incense, sandalwood, and sweet spices mingle in. The palate is sumptuous and caressing, with a velvety texture reminiscent of brocade, purple drapes, and golden threads. The fruit is glorious and the finish leaves you wanting more. A very fine wine, more approachable in its youth than the recent vintages of Lynch-Bages.

The freshness and finesse of a Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac

    The property

Located at the gates of Pauillac, the Château Lynch-Bages is a property that has marked the history of Médoc. While the Bages terroir has been known since the 16th century, it gained fame in the 18th century. Under the leadership of the son of an Irish citizen named Thomas Lynch, the Bages cru was recognized at the universal exhibition in Paris. Entered into the fold of the J-M Cazes family on the eve of the Second World War, Château Lynch-Bages is one of the most beautiful references of the Pauillac appellation.

In constant pursuit of excellence and innovation, Château Lynch-Bages carried out a new parcel division in 2006, breaking down 90 original cadastral parcels into 180 to 200 sub-parcels. The 2020 vintage was the first vintage to be produced in the brand new facilities of Château Lynch-Bages. Imagined by the architect Chien Chung (Didi) Pei, internationally recognized for his minimalist architectural style, this new vat room and its aging cellar are state-of-the-art tools aimed at magnifying the terroir of this emblematic property of Pauillac through goldsmith vinifications.

    The vineyard

Château Lynch-Bages is a Pauillac wine from a 105-hectare vineyard planted on Garonne gravels. The parcel division of the vineyard is refined thanks to the use of satellite technologies allowing to preserve the viticultural genetic heritage of the property. The homogeneous geology of the terroir allows a good supply of water to the vine on a territory where the climate is moderate.

    The vintage

The 2024 vintage begins with a mild and very rainy winter, followed by a wet spring requiring constant vigilance to preserve the vineyard. Thanks to a dry and moderate summer, the vine regains balance and freshness, promoting slow and homogeneous maturation. The harvest, conducted with precision, allows a high-quality harvest.

    Vinification and aging

Manual harvest with selective sorting in the vineyard and on the table. Aging for a period of 18 months in French oak barrels, 75% of which are new.

    Blend

    Cabernet sauvignon (70 %), merlot (24 %), cabernet franc (3 %) and petit verdot (3 %).
