Château Lynch-Moussas 2022

On the nose, ripe fruit, stewed cherries, Christmas spices, herbs, green bell pepper; soft attack, slightly powdery tannins, somewhat rustic, shows character. Medium length, dark-fruited finish. A successful Lynch-Moussas.

Quite a heady nose, one of the more opulent in terms of fragrance and sun-kissed fruit. The palate is concentrated and rich in fleshy fruit but has such a wonderful cushion of acidity that lifts the frame and keeps the energy. I love the fine, salty tannins with both mint, clove and liquorice elements. It's not so open right now - maintains quite a streamlined frame, but the individual elements are really well presented with power and poise. Ends with plum, blackcurrant, black pepper and tobacco touches.

Very clear and transparent with blackcurrant, blueberry, lead pencil, mint and violet aromas that follow through to a medium body with ultrafine tannins that go on and on. Such polish and beauty. Crunchy at the end. 74% cabernet sauvignon and 26% merlot. Try this after 2028.

The 2022 Lynch-Moussas has a fresh nose with blackberry and cedar scents, quite classic in style and bright. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, not intense but tensile, with an energetic and disciplined finish. What I want from the Left Bank in 2022, and this is always competitively priced. Flowers, black with red currants, cedar, and tobacco fill the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, refined, fresh, and loaded with chalky blackberries and currants from start to finish. The wine will age for two or more decades with ease. The wine blends 74% Cabernet Sauvignon with 26% Merlot. Drink from 2028-2050.

Heady notes of graphite and tar, almost root-like, assert themselves from the opening. The wine is sumptuous on the palate, luxurious, with a virile edge and a delicious hint of coffee.

Subtle woody nuances in the bouquet of Lynch Moussas, which also reveals notes of blackcurrant, elderberry, and licorice. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine is elegant, harmonious, and carried by velvety tannins. A delicious, sapid wine that can be enjoyed in its youth yet has nothing to be ashamed of regarding its aging potential.

Beautiful deep purple-red with black highlights. Very aromatic nose, refined, fruity, pure and subtle. On the palate, the wine unfolds with a rich, full body, classy texture and lovely aromatic definition. Persistent finish with fine tannins. It’s delicious! The ageing could allow it to surpass Batailley. Blend: 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot. Alcohol: 14.2% - pH: 3.8. Yield: 42 hl/ha.

Inky, powerful colour, edges of heady incense on the nose, but this feels more rooted in Pauillac to me than many vintages of Lynch Moussas, delivering intense cassis and dark fruit character, hints of crushed rose petals, clove and tar. Plenty of fresh mint leaf coming through as well, with a real sense of poise. It feels like part of the Château Batailley family this year, more than usual — a buy. 57% new oak.
