Description
The pure harmony of an exceptional Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion
The estate
The Château Pavie Macquin was founded in the 19th century by Albert Macquin, the man who introduced grafted vines into France to save the country’s vineyards from destruction by phylloxera. Today, the château is still owned by Albert Macquin’s descendants. This Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion is an essential reference of the appellation and ranks among the greatest wines in the world.
The vineyard
Château Pavie Macquin covers 15 hectares on a clay-limestone terroir on the plateau of starfish limestone rocks of Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank of Bordeaux.
Blend
Merlot (80 %), complemented by Cabernet Franc (18 %) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2 %).
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Château Pavie Macquin 2017
Tasting
Nose
Flamboyant and opulent, the charm of the aromatic bouquet unfolds from the very first moments, opening on notes of dark fruits and plum, giving way to the sensuality of spicy notes and the delicacy of floral aromas.
Palate
On the palate, the wine reveals itself with harmony in an intense impression of purity and freshness. The voluptuous texture envelops the palate with silky tannins before unfolding powerfully into a precise, mineral finish, leaving a pleasant sensation of freshness.
