Sixth overall in the Bordeaux blends category. Now owned by the Cuvelier family and crafted under the guiding hand of consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt, this Cru Bourgeois has consistently offered up excellent value for money in recent vintages. Initially restrained and shy on the nose, it needs coaxing to reveal intriguing coffee, fresh earth and briary fruit scents. Ample tannins are youthful and vigorous but equally sophisticated and suave. This promises a solid decade or more in the cellar.

Suave, brambly mixed summer berry fruits take center stage on the nose, with a very nicely layered palate carrying fresh, bright berry flavors into an upbeat finish. Smart wine. Try from 2022.

The 2015 Poujeaux is gorgeous and open-knit, with lovely fruit presence, soft contours and tons of near- to medium-term appeal. Silky tannins add to the wine's inviting personality. The sweet red cherry and plum flavors have an extra dimension of richness and depth in 2015 that is unusual, but also adds to the wine's undeniable allure. This is a gorgeous wine from the Cuvelier family. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

The ripe, dark fruits, truffle, licorice and smoky personality are just great. Full-bodied, with jubilant, chunky red fruits, ripe tannins and sweet, rustic cherries on the finish.

Dark ruby red colour. Pure nose with floral hints and ripe dark berries, a discreet touch of oak, coffee bean, cassis and plum. The palate has nice density and weight with good extract and ripe tannin, polished and savoury dark fruit, and a dense and long finish. Well-built already with an approaching drinkability.

The 2015 Château Poujeaux is a Cabernet Sauvignon–dominated red that includes 42% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It’s a medium-bodied, classic, workhorse-styled beauty offering lots of currant and black cherry fruits, plenty of minerality, fine tannins, and solid concentration. It has more density than most Moulis and will keep for 10–15 years.

Comes across with a rather cool expression. On the palate, ample and already quite charming, wonderful spice in the extract, long retronasal aromatics. From the nose I wasn’t immediately thrilled – but on the palate it then convinced me without question.

We appreciate the complex nose of ripe fruit, incense, resinous notes and smoke, and the solid palate with imposing yet harmonious tannins, length and vigor. Great potential.

The 2015 is beginning to show early development, with a supple palate and fine tannins. You can start drinking it now.

The color is deep violet with a lovely, very delicate nose and notes of blueberry. The wine is generous, with substance and a nice volume. It does not yet have the sap it once had, however, but the wine shows greater elegance and length. 50% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, 5% petit verdot.

The nose is fruity, velvety, tight, full, and offers precision and elegance. It reveals notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, spices, and fine notes of blackcurrant jam, combined with subtle woody nuances, licorice pastille, tangy candy, and a hint of Sichuan pepper. The palate is fruity, fresh, velvety, and offers a lovely framework, indulgence, and precision. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of blackberry and blackcurrant with touches of plum, joined by light notes of licorice, a hint of toasted oak, Sichuan pepper, and spices. The tannins are fine, well-handled, and very slightly dry. Good length and persistence.

The 2015 Poujeaux is medium to deep garnet colored. It leaps with notions of ripe blackcurrants, mulberries, and Morello cherries, plus suggestions of dried herbs and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate delivers a good amount of muscular red and black fruits, with a sturdy frame of chewy tannins and a savory finish.
