Château Thieuley 2023

A plump white, with a curvy rather than racy feel, offering nectarine and orange blossom notes, plus flashes of ginger and bitter almond through the juicy finish. An interesting change of pace. Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris. Drink now. 5,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

Pale green-gold colour, Sauvignon aromatics dominate at this early stage, although the Sémillon adds depth to the texture and contributes to the white pear and citrus flavours. Unoaked, five months in stainless steel.

Score: 85–87. Lovely, well-balanced nose of yellow citrus and white fruit. A pinch of white pepper adds extra energy. The palate is more driven by yellow lemon zest, with a touch of residual sugar.

A good touch of ripe white fruits gives this wine, with its quince and pear aromas, a rounded character. Its red-apple flavors are cut with citrus, and perfumed from the Sauvignon Gris in the blend. Drink the wine now.
