The estate
Located in the village of La Morra, the Cordero di Montezemolo estate is an emblematic benchmark of the Langhe winegrowing area in northern Piedmont, Italy.
The vineyard
Cordero di Montezemolo oversees nearly 51 hectares of vines planted on exceptional terroirs in Piedmont. The estate’s wines are recognized across borders for their complexity, power, and great aging potential.
The wine
Produced under the Barolo appellation, Enrico VI 2020 by Cordero di Montezemolo is made from a selection of old vines, some over 60 years old, from the Castiglione Falletto vineyard. Situated at 300 meters above sea level and facing southwest, this 2.2-hectare site lies on iron oxide–rich soils composed of clay, silt, and sand.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested in early October, the grapes undergo fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for about 10 days. After racking, malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels of different sizes from France and Slavonia. Barrel aging for 18 to 19 months is followed by an additional 18 to 19 months of bottle aging before release.
Grape variety
100% Nebbiolo.
