Appearance

Nose
The bouquet reveals remarkable aromatic complexity, unveiling delicate scents of white flowers and verbena, harmoniously blended with hints of citrus. Subtle notes of honey, sweet spices and brioche further enrich this palette.

Palate
The attack unveils a generous volume that coats the palate. The tasting extends over a very fine persistence, hinting at a few empyreumatic notes that will meld with elegance over time.

Food and wine pairings
This great white wine will pair wonderfully with seafood such as grilled fish or fine crustaceans like lobster and scallops. It will also enhance aged cheeses, such as a mature Comté.

The estate
Located in the Rhône Valley, Domaine Courbis draws its origins from a long peasant tradition, but its true establishment as a specialised wine estate dates back to the mid-20th century under the impetus of Maurice Courbis. Today, brothers Dominique and Laurent Courbis passionately lead this prestigious property. The vineyard now extends over more than forty hectares, spread across exceptional terroirs. Renowned for its exacting standards and expertise, Domaine Courbis crafts distinctive cuvées that reflect all the richness and complexity of the finest Rhône appellations.

The vineyard
This Saint-Joseph wine comes from a 7.5-hectare vineyard nestled in the heart of a picturesque valley. The vines, aged 50 years and older, thrive on steeply sloping hillsides composed of clay-limestone soils. This exceptional terroir enjoys natural protection from northerly winds and is bathed in an environment of typical Mediterranean vegetation. To ensure optimal quality, the estate carries out green harvesting. The grapes are then hand-picked in slatted crates, followed by a rigorous selection.

The vintage
The year was marked by particularly mild weather conditions in the region. This highly favourable climate allowed the vegetative cycle to unfold optimally, bringing the berries to full maturity and perfect sanitary condition.

Winemaking and ageing
To produce the Les Royes 2023 cuvée, the whole clusters undergo direct pneumatic pressing followed by careful settling. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine finally benefits from 13 months of ageing on fine lees, split between 40% new barrels and 60% one- to two-wine casks.
