A Structured and Generously Aromatic Côtes du Rhône from Domaine de la Mordorée
The Estate
Created in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, the Domaine de la Mordorée spans 42 hectares in the Vallée du Rhône, covering the appellations Tavel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône and Condrieu. After Christophe's passing in 2015, Madeleine Delorme and their daughter Ambre now manage the estate. The estate stands out for its full conversion to biodynamics since 2020 and its cuvées with poetic names reflecting a respectful approach to the Rhône terroir.
The Vineyard
The vines dedicated to the production of this Côtes du Rhône rouge are planted on very diverse terroirs, consisting of sandy or sandy-clay soils enriched with limestone gravel.
Winemaking and Aging
After destemming and crushing, the grapes undergo a maceration tailored to each grape variety. The use of indigenous yeasts and limited sulfites allows the character of this Vallée du Rhône terroir to be fully expressed.
Grape Varieties
The blend of this Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2023 consists of 40% grenache, 30% syrah, 15% cinsault, 10% carignan and 5% mourvèdre, creating a perfect balance between power and finesse.
