The estate
Officially founded in 1999 by the Boisset family, Domaine de la Vougeraie is an essential reference in Burgundy. Located in Premeaux-Prissey, the estate spans approximately 44 to 52 hectares. It is now managed by Jean-Charles Boisset, while the technical management is overseen by Sylvie Poillot. The estate stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamic viticulture, applied across all of its plots. With an approach respectful of natural cycles, the estate produces wines of great purity, reflecting the excellence of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The 0.75-hectare plot from which this wine originates, located in Côte de Beaune, is ideally situated on a mid-slope, benefiting from an east-facing exposure. Planted in the early 1990s on white soils composed of limestone, stones and silt, the vines enjoy excellent drainage. Cultivated organically, this terroir naturally limits yields, thereby fostering an optimal concentration of aromas in the grapes. Pruning is carried out according to the traditional Guyot method.
The vintage
The year 2024 was marked by particularly complex weather conditions. The growing cycle had to contend with high humidity, limited sunshine, excessive rainfall as well as significant mildew pressure and light frost episodes around the edges of the plots. Flowering proved difficult, resulting in very low yields at harvest.
Winemaking and aging
To craft the Côte de Beaune Village "Les Pierres Blanches" 2024, the meticulously sorted bunches undergo a gentle, slow pneumatic pressing lasting about three hours. After natural settling, the juice ferments in oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place over 12 to 18 months in barrels (around 20% of which are new oak from the Cîteaux forest), with regular lees stirring timed to the waxing phases of the moon. Bottling also follows the lunar calendar.
Grape varieties
This white wine is predominantly made from Chardonnay, which may be complemented by tiny proportions of Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris.
