Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Chaignots" 2024 Domaine Faiveley

Tasting

Colour
This red wine reveals a beautiful depth of colour through a deep ruby hue, adorned with subtle purple highlights.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex, offering scents of fresh red fruit mingled with notes of dried flowers and delicate spicy touches.

Palate
The attack is generous and round, revealing a smooth texture supported by well-integrated tannins. The palate offers a fine balance between power and delicacy, extending into a lingering finish marked by fruit and a hint of minerality.

Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée pairs perfectly with red meats such as roast beef or lamb, as well as roasted poultry and game. It also goes wonderfully with mushroom-based dishes, such as a risotto, or characterful cheeses like Époisses.

Service and Storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Chaignots" 2024 at a temperature of between 12 and 14°C. This wine is built for ageing and can be enjoyed after a few years in the cellar, continuing to evolve favourably until around 2047.

The Expression of an Emblematic Terroir from Nuits-Saint-Georges

The Estate
Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley, Domaine Faiveley stands as a key figure in Burgundy. Now led by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, representing the seventh generation, the estate oversees a vast vineyard of 120 hectares spread across the region's most renowned terroirs. Combining respect for tradition with sustainable practices, the estate notably obtained its organic farming certification in 2025, illustrating its deep commitment to preserving its winemaking heritage.

The Vineyard
Located to the north of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, the "Aux Chaignots" plot covers 0.72 hectares. Resting on limestone and gravelly soils, these vines, with an average age of fifty years, benefit from an easterly exposure, halfway up the slope. The vines are trained using traditional pruning, with controlled yields to encourage berry concentration.

Winemaking and Aging
The grapes destined for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Chaignots" 2024 are hand-harvested and rigorously sorted. Partially destemmed and left uncrushed, they are gravity-fed into the vats. After a cold maceration, fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged on the lees in French oak barrels, with a measured proportion of lightly toasted new oak, thus preserving the identity of the fruit.
