The elegance and precision of a Sancerre white wine from an exceptional terroir
The Estate
Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois represent the third generation at the helm of the family estate founded in 1950 by Henri Bourgeois. Covering 72 hectares, the vineyard of Domaine Henri Bourgeois spans a mosaic of terroirs composed of clay-limestone soils, Kimmeridgian marls, and flint, which contribute to the signature of each of these Loire wines. Through the passion and rigor applied both to vineyard management and to parcel-by-parcel vinification, in which they were pioneers, the Bourgeois Family produces wines recognized for their quality, finesse, and pure expression of each of these great origin terroirs.
The Vineyard
The vines are planted on the famous Côte des Monts Damnés, whose terroir is made up of south-facing Kimmeridgian marls. This Loire soil is characterized by the presence of thousands of small, comma-shaped oyster shells. Yields are deliberately kept low through high-density planting and grass cover between the rows.
Winemaking and aging
At harvest, the best grapes are hand-selected and picked, then carefully transported to the cellar where they are gently pressed to release their aromas. The resulting must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. This Sancerre white wine is then aged on its fine lees for 9 to 10 months before bottling.
