Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Grandes Ruchottes" 2022 by Louis Jadot
Tasting notes
Appearance
The robe reveals a pale yellow hue tending towards a bright, light gold.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens on notes of white fruits and ripe citrus, accompanied by delicate touches of white flowers. The whole is underlined by subtle toasted and buttery nuances.
Palate
Ample and concentrated, the palate seduces with its volume and its smooth texture. The balance is maintained by a beautiful freshness, leading to a persistent finish with fruity and finely oaky accents.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with shellfish such as roast lobster, noble fish in butter sauce, or poultry in a creamy mushroom sauce. It will also enhance aged cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort.
Serving and cellaring
For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Grandes Ruchottes" 2022 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C, after aerating for about twenty minutes. This wine can be enjoyed from its early years, but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2037.
The richness and complexity of a Premier Cru from Chassagne-Montrachet
The estate
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy, France. Historically established in the heart of Beaune, it now shines internationally while preserving its local roots. Owned by the Kopf family since 1985, the estate is currently chaired by Thomas Seiter. With an extensive viticultural heritage and a philosophy focused on the authentic expression of terroirs, Louis Jadot also stands out for its environmental commitments, illustrated by a High Environmental Value certification.
The vineyard
The Climat of Grandes Ruchottes is a confidential terroir of about 2.1 hectares located within the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, in the south of the Côte de Beaune. Facing due south and perched at around 280 metres altitude, these vines enjoy ideal sunshine and beautiful freshness, perfect conditions for the flourishing of the local grape variety.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by hot and dry weather conditions. The sunny episodes of the summer period favoured a generous ripeness of the berries. A few timely rains helped preserve the balance and freshness of the fruit, resulting in a healthy and high-quality harvest.
Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting in small crates, the berries destined for this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Grandes Ruchottes" 2022 undergo a delicate pressing. The musts then ferment in oak barrels from the House's own cooperage, about a third of which are new. The wine finally benefits from aging on fine lees for approximately fifteen months, giving it structure and complexity.
