Description

Tasting Notes and Characteristics of Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2010

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a magnificent red colour of beautiful depth.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with indulgent notes of cherry intertwined with hints of liquorice.

Palate
The attack displays remarkable freshness. The palate proves supple and elegant, underpinned by well-defined tannins. Cherry aromas reappear, accompanied by peppery nuances that extend into a beautifully long finish, also marked by pepper.

Food Pairing
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with game meats, such as a venison stew or pan-seared doe with pepper, served alongside a celeriac purée. For the cheese course, a Soumaintrain will make an ideal companion.

Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 17 °C. Endowed with fine potential, this wine should be enjoyed until around 2025.

The Elegance of a Great Burgundy Pinot Noir

The Estate
Officially founded in 1797, the Louis Latour House is a true institution in Burgundy. This historic estate spans 48 hectares of vines, including an exceptional 27 hectares classified as Grand Cru, stretching from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune. Now led by Florent Latour, Chairman of the Executive Board, the estate carries on a unique family expertise, which includes owning its very own cooperage. Certified organic since 2024, this prestigious brand shines worldwide while jealously preserving its heritage and its exceptional terroirs.

The Vineyard
The plot dedicated to this Chambertin Grand Cru extends over 0.81 hectares in a single block, running from the top to the bottom of the slope. Acquired at the end of the 19th century, these Pinot Noir vines have an average age of 35 years. They thrive on a complex terroir composed of a clay base dating from the Bajocian era, covered by a shallow soil blending chalk, gravel and clay. Yields are deliberately limited to 30 hl/ha and the harvest is carried out by hand to ensure optimal berry quality.

Vinification and Ageing
The winemaking process begins with traditional fermentation in open vats, followed by malolactic fermentation completed at 100%. The wine then undergoes meticulous ageing for 10 to 12 months. This maturation takes place exclusively in new French oak barrels with a medium toast, crafted directly by the Maison Louis Latour cooperage.

Grape Variety
This cuvée is made exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir.
