The expression of a historic Burgundy terroir by Louis Latour

The estate
Officially founded in 1797, the Louis Latour House is a leading institution of Burgundy. This independent estate, whose family winemaking heritage dates back to 1731, cultivates 48 hectares of vines, including the largest area of Grands Crus in the region. Today, the family, notably represented by Eléonore Latour, continues this tradition of excellence while ensuring the international reach of the brand. The estate has the unique distinction of producing its own barrels thanks to its integrated cooperage, thereby ensuring absolute mastery of its ageing process.

The vineyard
Located at the foot of the slope of the famous hill of Corton, in the Côte de Beaune, this historic terroir benefits from an ideal due-south exposure. The vines, averaging 40 years of age, thrive on a unique geological outcrop composed of marl and limestone, with a reddish soil particularly rich in iron and clay. Carefully cultivated to offer controlled yields of 35 hl/ha, the vineyard is harvested exclusively by hand in order to preserve the integrity and quality of the berries.

Winemaking and ageing
The making of this Corton Grand Cru "Clos de la Vigne au Saint" 2009 begins with a traditional fermentation in open vats, followed by 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine then benefits from ageing of 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new. These barrels, crafted by the house's cooperage with a medium toast, support the structure of the wine while respecting the expression of its terroir.

Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from 100% Pinot Noir.
