A Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune by Maison Louis Latour
The Estate
Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is a family-owned, independent négociant-éleveur in Burgundy. Its estate covers 48 hectares, including 27 hectares classified as grands crus, making it one of the largest properties of its kind in the region. Historically rooted in Aloxe-Corton for its vineyard estate, the house is headquartered in Beaune. It is now led by Florent Latour, Chairman of the Executive Board since 2023, while Christophe Deola manages the vineyard estate. Louis Latour also stands out for its in-house cooperage, a rarity in Burgundy.
The Vineyard
The Saint-Aubin 1er cru comes from vines approximately 30 years old, planted on limestone soils typical of the Côte de Beaune. Yields are controlled at around 45 hectolitres per hectare, and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand in order to preserve the quality and integrity of the grapes.
Winemaking and Ageing
The Saint-Aubin 1er cru 2024 is traditionally vinified in barrels, with complete malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels from the house cooperage, approximately 10% of which are new.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
