Food and wine pairing

This French red wine pairs beautifully with beef mironton, rabbit with chanterelle mushrooms or venison with cranberries. It will also enhance regional dishes such as beef bourguignon or parsley-flecked ham, as well as mature cheeses like Époisses or Soumaintrain.

Service and storage

To fully appreciate this Vosne-Romanée Village 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 14 and 15°C. This wine can be enjoyed young but will continue to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2031.

The finesse and elegance of a Vosne-Romanée wine

The estate

Officially founded in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton, Maison Louis Latour is a historic figure in Burgundy. Still independent, it is now run by the Latour family, representing the eleventh generation, with Christophe Deola at the helm of the estate. With a vineyard spanning around fifty hectares, the estate stands out for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for its terroirs. Combining centuries-old heritage with a modern vision, Louis Latour owns its own artisanal cooperage, ensuring perfect mastery of the aging of its wines.

The vineyard

Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the Vosne-Romanée plots rest on soils composed of ferruginous clay, marl and silt over a limestone bedrock. The vines, averaging around thirty years of age, benefit from an ideal mid-slope exposure. The estate favours an environmentally responsible approach, excluding all chemical fertilisers, herbicides or insecticides in favour of biological control methods to preserve the natural balance and health of the vineyard.

The vintage

The year 2024 was marked by particularly wet weather conditions, with exceptional rainfall. Spring brought its share of challenges, including hail in May and heavy rains in June during the crucial flowering period, leading to significant fungal disease pressure. Fortunately, a drier and sunnier August allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness ahead of a late harvest spread over the month of September.

Winemaking and aging

The winemaking process for the Vosne-Romanée Village 2024 begins with a gravity-based transfer of the berries, avoiding any mechanical pumping to preserve the quality of the fruit. Fermentation takes place traditionally in open oak vats. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, crafted by the house's own cooperage. This meticulous aging process incorporates 20% new barrels and 80% barrels that have already been used for one or more wines.
