The elegance and minerality of a great red Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1945 by Raymond Javillier, the Patrick Javillier estate is an emblematic family-run property located in Meursault, at the heart of Burgundy. Following the remarkable development led by Patrick from 1974 onwards, the estate now spans approximately 10 to 11 hectares of vines. Since 2018, the third generation, represented by Marion Javillier and Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy, has been running the estate. The current owners continue to uphold a distinctive and innovative philosophy based on blending complementary terroirs to create cuvées of remarkable balance.
The vineyard
The grapes come from a 0.28-hectare plot located within the Aloxe-Corton appellation, at the foot of the famous Corton hill. This terroir in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune is distinguished by soils composed of limestone, alluvial sand and gravel. The exposure and altitude of these vines give the wine its characteristic tension and minerality.
The vintage
2022 was marked by unpredictable but generally mild weather throughout the growing season. These conditions led to particularly early harvests, beginning on 22 August, with grapes showing excellent health and varying levels of ripeness depending on the exposure of the plots.
Winemaking and aging
To craft this Aloxe-Corton Village 2022, the grapes undergo complete destemming before undergoing natural fermentation in concrete vats. Aging takes place first in barrels for one year, after which the wine is racked to continue maturing in vat on its fine lees.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
