An authentic wine from Auxey-Duresses from old vines in the Côte de Beaune

The estate

Founded in 2009 under the name Terres de Velle, Domaine Pierre Vincent now extends over 7 hectares in Auxey-Duresses, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Taken over in July 2023 by Pierre Vincent, a renowned oenologist and former General Manager of Domaine Leflaive, along with Hervé Kratiroff and Eric Versini, the estate continues an artisanal approach that highlights the authenticity of the Burgundian terroir. Managed organically since the beginning and now in conversion to biodynamics, the vineyard produces 16 micro-cuvées annually from prestigious appellations, including Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru.

The vineyard

The Les Closeaux cuvée comes from a single 0.6815-hectare plot in Auxey-Duresses, planted between 1962 and 1970. These old Pinot Noir vines thrive on clay soil with a southeast exposure. The name "Les Closeaux" refers to a large plot located above the Ruisseau des Cloux, with the plural suggesting that it formerly consisted of several small Clos or Closeaux, former gardens or small walled vineyards. The soils are first tilled and then grassed over, with very little use of inputs. Harvesting is done manually with systematic sorting, and the harvest date is carefully determined through strict monitoring of maturity.

Winemaking and aging

The Auxey-Duresses Village "Les Closeaux" 2023 is vinified with 50% whole bunches. After a pre-fermentation cold maceration, the vatting period lasts 15 days. Aging takes place for 18 months in oak barrels, including about 20% new barrels, before the wine is racked into stainless steel tanks prior to bottling.

Grape variety

This Burgundy wine is 100% Pinot Noir.
