Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the 2022 Marsannay Village "Les Longeroies Vieilles Vignes" by Régis Bouvier
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby hue, adorned with a luminous brilliance and beautiful clarity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet elegantly blends notes of small red fruits, such as morello cherry and raspberry, with darker aromas of blackcurrant and blueberry. Subtle floral touches reminiscent of violet and hibiscus perfect this complex ensemble.
Palate
The attack is fresh and precise, opening the way to a concentrated and generous mid-palate. The tannins, remarkably fine and particularly silky, structure this wine, which extends into a persistent finish, enhanced by a delicate, crystalline mineral touch.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with red meats, roasted duck or a traditional coq au vin. It also enhances lamb dishes, mushroom risottos, as well as full-flavoured aged cheeses such as Comté or Époisses.
Service and storage
To reveal its full potential, it is recommended to serve this 2022 Marsannay Village "Les Longeroies Vieilles Vignes" in a cool setting, at a temperature between 10 and 15°C. Approachable in its youth, it also has remarkable ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2042.
The authentic and refined expression of a great Burgundy terroir
The estate
Heir to a long line of winegrowers in France, Régis Bouvier founded his own estate in 1981 with just two hectares. Located in Marsannay-la-Côte, this Burgundy estate now spans sixteen hectares across around sixty prestigious plots. Still at the helm of the estate, Régis Bouvier pursues excellence through a considered environmental approach and deep respect for the terroir. Recognised for his technical mastery, he crafts wines that combine a vibrant fruity expression with remarkable elegance, establishing himself as a key figure in his appellation.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the Les Longeroies lieu-dit, ideally situated on the slopes of the Marsannay appellation. Facing east and south-east, these old vines benefit from optimal sun exposure. They thrive on a complex geological mosaic, combining shallow limestone soils on the upper section, clay-rich soils in the middle, and gravelly alluvial deposits below. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable farming, including regular ploughing, the use of natural compost, and green harvesting to ensure optimal fruit quality.
The vintage
The year 2022 began with demanding weather conditions during the first part of the growing season. However, the end of summer brought particularly favourable weather, allowing the berries to reach an exceptional level of ripeness and concentration by harvest time.
Winemaking and ageing
The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand, allowing for rigorous sorting of the bunches. To craft this 2022 Marsannay Village "Les Longeroies Vieilles Vignes", winemaking begins with a cold maceration lasting around ten days to extract colour and aromatic precursors. Fermentation is then followed by careful ageing, punctuated by regular punching down of the cap and strict temperature control, preserving all the finesse and complexity of the fruit.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
