The refinement and expression of a Speyside single malt whisky by GlenAllachie
GlenAllachie Distillery, the renaissance of a Speyside gem
Founded in 1967 in Speyside by Mackinlay McPherson Ltd based on plans by William Delmé Evans, the GlenAllachie distillery had several owners before closing in 1985. The decisive turning point came in 2017 when Billy Walker, a legendary master distiller with 53 years of experience, acquired this Scottish distillery from Chivas Brothers. Under his leadership, GlenAllachie developed its signature “heather honey” style thanks to maturation favoring Sherry casks. This dramatic transformation propelled this Scotch whisky to global benchmark status, notably crowned with the title of “World’s Best Single Malt,” won by the GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength in 2021.
The 15 Year Old, an expression of Billy Walker’s mastery
The GlenAllachie 15 Year Old perfectly illustrates Billy Walker’s maturation philosophy. This Scotch single malt benefits from carefully orchestrated aging, mainly in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks. This combination lends this Scotch whisky its sherry-cask-matured sophistication and its robust, complex character.
Awarded since 2019, the GlenAllachie range testifies to the master distiller’s exceptional expertise. The absence of chill filtration and artificial coloring preserves the authenticity of this outstanding malt, fully revealing the aromas developed over its fifteen years of maturation in Speyside’s Scottish warehouses.
