Nose

Elegant and subtle, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of stewed fruit, almond and aged walnut. It then evolves toward aromas of old damp wood, Spanish brandy, gingerbread and pastry-like hints.

Palate

The attack, initially supple, quickly gains in creaminess. Flavors of raisins and stewed apple dominate at first, followed by gentle spices on the mid-palate. The finish lingers with nuances of dark cocoa and fresh tobacco.

Habitation Bellevue, tradition and modernity in Marie-Galante

Founded in 1821 with the installation of its iconic windmill, Habitation Bellevue perpetuates a sugar-making tradition dating back to 1769 in Capesterre, Marie-Galante. This Guadeloupe Rum, owned by the Godefroy family and run by the Damoiseau brothers, spans 140 hectares in the heart of the island’s largest cane-growing area. Habitation Bellevue stands out as the most modern distillery in the French West Indies and the only eco-positive distillery in the world, producing more energy than it consumes. The leading exporter from Guadeloupe with 900,000 liters annually, it combines cutting-edge technology and tradition, and is home to the last operational windmill in the Caribbean. Its agricole rums, regularly awarded medals, reveal fruity aromas characteristic of the Marie-Galante terroir.

The Hors d'Âge 10 Years Old, an exceptional cuvée

The Hors d'Âge 10 Years Old Habitation Bellevue is a blend of agricole rum and molasses rum, aged for 10 years in French and American oak barrels in a tropical climate. Distilled on two Creole columns installed in the early 2000s, this rum benefits from extended aging, giving it exceptional aromatic complexity.

Each decanter is numbered and hand-bottled, underscoring the artisanal nature of this production. The edition is very limited, with fewer than 1,000 decanters produced per year. With an ABV of 45%, this aged rum was sold exclusively on site until May 2021, before becoming available in mainland France. Habitation Bellevue has had a capacity of 1,000 new barrels since early 2022, enabling it to develop its range of aged rums, which also includes VO, VSOP, 6- and 12-year expressions.
