Tasting
Nose
The nose is clear and intense, with remarkable fermentary richness. Pronounced aromas of black olives and varnish unfold with aeration.
Palate
Powerful, balanced and profound, this rum develops a generous texture on the palate, dominated by Muscovado sugar and very ripe banana. The aromatic intensity builds powerfully while maintaining a beautiful balance. Its persistent finish seduces with slightly smoky notes, underscored by a hint of citrus zest.
Food pairing and serving suggestions
This exceptional rum is best enjoyed neat at room temperature to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity.
An outstanding South African rum with intense aromas
Habitation Velier: the excellence of Pure Single Rum
Habitation Velier was born from the collaboration between Luca Gargano, owner of Velier since 1983, and artisanal distillers using pot stills. This pioneering project established the "Pure Single Rum" category, the pure expression of sugar cane through discontinuous distillation. Produced in various regions, including South Africa, Habitation Velier pursues a didactic mission: to educate about true artisanal distillation techniques. Supported by La Maison & Velier (a joint venture led by Thierry Benitah), the project stands out for its educational approach and quest for authenticity, setting new standards of excellence in the world of premium rum.
MHOBA: the art of South African artisanal distillation
The MHOBA Rum derives its name from the siSwati word "umhoba", meaning sugar cane, and reflects its deep roots in the Malalane region. Made from the juice of the Nkomazi sugar cane variety growing in the Mpumalanga River valley, this spirit benefits from a completely artisanal production in small batches. Double distillation takes place in custom-made pot stills, with a strict selection of the best hearts. This traditional method, combined with the use of local sugar cane, gives MHOBA its unique character and an exceptionally high concentration of congeners – a testament to the authenticity and craftsmanship of this outstanding South African distillery.
