Description

Tasting characteristics and serving advice for Laphroaig Elements 2.0

Tasting

Nose
Fruity with a subtle coastal character. Baked apples, vanilla cream and orange zest come together harmoniously with delicate peat notes.

Palate
The palate ideally combines fruitiness, sweetness and salinity. As the tasting unfolds, it reveals notes of green apples, runny honey, peat, a smoldering campfire and even smoked seafood.

Food pairings and serving moments

This single malt is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to reveal its full aromatic complexity. Its fruity richness and coastal dimension make it a perfect companion for smoked seafood or apple-based desserts.

Mixology

Given its exceptional character and its recognition as Whisky of the Year 2024 by Whisky Advocate, we recommend enjoying this Elements 2.0 unadorned to fully appreciate its complexity.

A fruity, subtly peated Islay single malt whisky, named Whisky of the Year 2024

Laphroaig, the wild soul of Islay since 1815

Founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston on Islay’s southern coast, this Scottish distillery takes its name from the Gaelic "Lag Bhròdhaig," meaning “the hollow of the broad bay.” After Donald’s tragic death in 1847, the distillery flourished under Ian Hunter and later Bessie Williamson, who inherited it in 1954. Now owned by D. Johnston & Co., Laphroaig remains one of the world’s most distinctive single malts thanks to its intensely peaty, smoky and “medicinal” profile, using Islay peat and the pure waters of the Kilbride Stream.

The Elements Collection 2.0, an exceptional limited edition

Laphroaig Elements 2.0 showcases an innovative approach from the Scottish distillery, with an emphasis on an exceptionally long fermentation process. This limited edition benefits from an extended fermentation of up to 115 hours—nearly five days—well beyond usual standards. Distilled in January using an old traditional method, this Scotch whisky undergoes special aeration to maintain optimal wort conditions.

This non-chill-filtered release reveals a unique aromatic profile, combining Laphroaig’s peaty signature with a remarkable fruity dimension. Its recognition as Whisky of the Year 2024 by Whisky Advocate attests to the excellence of this creation, bottled at 59.6% ABV in a 70 cl format.
