A complex and concentrated blended whisky from Burgundy
Michel Couvreur: Burgundy craftsmanship in Scotch whisky
Founded in the 1970s by Michel Couvreur, a visionary Belgian producer, this singular House settled in Bouze-lès-Beaune, in Burgundy, far from Scotland’s traditional lands. The spirits age there in cellars carved into the rock between 1967 and 1969, offering optimal conditions of humidity and silence. The distinctive feature lies in the use of Port and wine casks for maturation, giving the whiskies unique aromatic profiles.
Upper Cap Blended Whisky Edition 2026: an enhanced version of Cap a Pie
Upper Cap Blended Whisky Edition 2026 is part of Michel Couvreur’s Les Raretés collection. This cuvée represents an enhanced version of Cap a Pie, demonstrating that a blended Scotch whisky can achieve great complexity. Composed primarily of grain whisky distilled in 2007 and aged in very old Pedro Ximénez casks, this blend is elevated by old, lightly peated malts distilled in 2010.
Fifteen years of aging and a touch of peat awaken remarkable tertiary aromas. Bottled in February 2026 at 47% vol. after minimal reduction, this whisky retains all its concentration, richness, and persistence. This limited edition is especially sought after by enthusiasts.
