The structure and balance of a fresh Rhône Valley red wine with a rich aromatic palette
The estate
An exceptional winemaker, Xavier Vignon has been regarded as one of the leading specialists of the southern Rhône Valley for more than twenty years. Every cuvée bearing the Xavier Vignon signature faithfully conveys his determination to reveal the identity of the Rhône's great terroirs, while also possessing a distinct character of its own: the Xavier Vignon identity. His exclusive creations showcase the full extent of his creativity, as exemplified by the Arcane collection, which promises enthusiasts an extraordinary sensory and tasting experience.
The vineyard
Distinctive for its vineyards set in a natural amphitheatre, the Cornas appellation reveals, through Xavier Vignon's Back Vintages, a powerful yet refined expression. This 1997 vintage is produced from vineyards planted on shallow granitic soils containing potassium, iron and magnesium.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes are vinified as whole bunches. A long maceration encourages concentration and an intense colour. Extended ageing in new and old foudres.
Grape variety
Syrah (100%).
