Description
The richness of a Loire Valley red wine from Jurassic terroirs
The estate
Founded between 800 and 1000 by Benedictine monks, the wine estate of Château de Fosse-Sèche was for several centuries owned by the Church. Passionate about wine and ecology, Guillaume Pire took up residence at the estate in 1998, with the ambition of crafting distinctive Loire Valley wines that authentically express their native terroirs. In 2010, Guillaume was joined by his twin brother, Adrien.
Château de Fosse-Sèche looks after a 15-hectare vineyard with a singular geology, farmed organically and biodynamically. Made up of flint stones and iron oxide, these soils also benefit from a cool, windy exposure. Together with their wives, Guillaume and Adrien Pire are deeply committed to an environmentally respectful approach. As a result, one third of the land area is dedicated to growing vines, while the remaining two thirds are devoted to preserving biodiversity and nature.
Château de Fosse-Sèche is renowned for its Loire Valley wines with a unique personality, harmoniously combining precision, purity, and power.
