Description
A powerful, aromatic white wine signed Abbatucci
The estate
Located at over 100 meters of altitude, the Domaine Comte Abbatucci owns one of the oldest vineyards in Corsica.
With origins dating back more than a century, the estate pays tribute, through its cuvées, to illustrious family figures (a General of the French Revolution, a diplomat, a minister under the reign of Napoleon III) whose destinies shaped the family’s history.
Eager to preserve this exceptional island terroir, the estate cultivates indigenous grape varieties that give its wines a unique character.
Since 2000, the entire vineyard has been farmed biodynamically, in order to enhance the characteristics of a one-of-a-kind Corsican terroir and promote the preservation of an exceptional natural environment.
The vineyard
Produced as a Vin de France, the Général de la Révolution 2017 cuvée from Domaine Abbatucci comes from a north-facing vineyard, where the vines grow on a granitic sandy-silty terroir.
Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are rigorously sorted in the vineyard and then in the cellar, before direct whole-bunch pressing. Following static settling for 24 to 48 hours, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in 600-liter demi-muids and 1200-liter foudres.
Lasting 9 months, aging on full lees is followed by 2 months in tanks after the blending of the best lots.
A final bottle aging of at least 6 months follows bottling, carried out with light filtration if necessary.
Blend
Général de la Révolution 2017 from Domaine Abbatucci is made from a blend of vermentino, rossola brandinca, riminese, carcajolo bianco, biancone and paga debiti.
Tasting
Color
The color is a lovely pale yellow with subtle green highlights.
Nose
Powerful and fresh, the nose combines aromas of white fruits, butter and citrus with a mineral expression that is characteristic of the estate.
Palate
The palate charms with freshness and acidity, delicately balanced by a rich, rounded texture. With a fine aromatic persistence, the palate reveals subtle oaky notes supported by silky minerality.
