Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2024 Louis Latour

Tasting notes

Colour
This red wine reveals a superb ruby hue, reflecting the beautiful concentration of its berries.

Nose
Generous and richly complex, the aromatic bouquet exudes scents of blackcurrant mingled with notes of undergrowth and tobacco. Subtle touches of exotic spice and a mineral thread perfect this olfactory expression.

Palate
The attack is broad and imbued with freshness, revealing delicious notes of cherry and mocha. Supported by silky tannins, the palate displays an elegant structure that extends into a remarkably long finish.

Food and wine pairing

Ideal with dishes of character, this wine pairs beautifully with refined game dishes, such as venison stew or roast deer served with a pepper sauce and celery purée. It also enhances intense Burgundian cheeses like Soumaintrain.

Service and storage

For optimal enjoyment, this Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2024 should be served at a temperature between 16 and 17°C. With excellent aging potential, it can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2039.

The elegance and complexity of a great Burgundy terroir by Maison Louis Latour

The estate

Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is an iconic figure of Burgundy. Having remained independent and family-owned for eleven generations, it is now led by Florent Latour. The estate oversees a vineyard spanning 48 to 50 hectares, making it the largest holder of Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte d'Or. Proud of its heritage, the estate stands out for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and for owning its own artisanal cooperage, ensuring perfect mastery over the aging of its wines.

The vineyard

This cuvée comes from a single, unified 0.81-hectare plot located within the prestigious Chambertin appellation, on the Côte de Nuits. With vines averaging 35 years of age, they thrive on a geologically complex terroir formed by an alluvial fan. The soils consist of a Bajocian clay substrate, covered with surface limestone, gravel, and clay. Yields are rigorously controlled, and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand to preserve the integrity of the fruit.

Winemaking and aging

After complete destemming, the berries of the Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2024 ferment in open wooden vats within the historic Corton Grancey winery, with traditional punching down and pumping over. A full malolactic fermentation then follows. Finally, the wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in new French oak barrels with a medium toast, all crafted by the estate's own cooperage.
