Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a dark red colour, both deep and remarkably intense.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with indulgent notes of black cherry, delicately interwoven with hints of chocolate.

Palate
The attack displays a beautiful freshness, revealing flavours of peppermint and liquorice underscored by subtle oak. The body is full, supported by a firm tannic structure, and extends towards a particularly long and powerful finish.

Food and wine pairings
This exceptional cuvée will enhance characterful dishes such as hare à la royale, duck shepherd's pie with truffles, or a matured cheese such as Cîteaux.

Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru "Les Quatre Journaux" 2010, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 17°C. Built to last, it has remarkable ageing potential and can be kept in the cellar until approximately 2035 to 2045.

Other characteristics
Regarded as one of the most illustrious red wines of the house, it stands out for its highly aromatic profile and wonderfully velvety texture. Its quality earned it the excellent score of 19/20 from the Bettane & Desseauve guide in 2013.

The elegance of a great Burgundy terroir revealed by Louis Latour

The estate
Founded in 1797, the Louis Latour House is a true institution in Burgundy. Based in Aloxe-Corton, this historic estate oversees a vineyard of around 50 hectares, including an exceptional proportion of Grands Crus. Now led by Florent Latour, the family business perpetuates centuries-old expertise while embracing sustainable farming practices. A rarity in the region, the estate owns its own cooperage, a major asset that reinforces the prestige and identity of its brand around the world.

The vineyard
The famous "Les Quatre Journaux" plot is located in the south-western part of the Romanée-Saint-Vivant appellation, in the immediate vicinity of the legendary Romanée-Conti. The family acquired these lands in December 1898 and today cultivates 0.8 hectare there. The vines, averaging around thirty years of age, are rooted in iron-rich clay soils. To ensure optimal quality, yields are limited to 30 hectolitres per hectare and the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand.

Vinification and ageing
The crafting of the Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru "Les Quatre Journaux" 2010 begins with traditional fermentation in open vats, accompanied by full malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months. This maturation period takes place entirely in new French oak barrels, made by the house's own cooperage and given a medium toast to preserve the brilliance of the fruit.

Grape variety
This cuvée is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
