Vinum

Finely aromatic, playful and floral, with blackcurrant and blackberries; on the palate, precise and highly elegant, as is often the case very vibrant, with crisp fruit and fine, well-integrated tannins; a long, saline finish. A delicacy.

Decanter

Refined and harmonious, this wine shows ripe red and black fruit aromas and flavours. The palate has smooth, almost creamy tannins, giving a supple, gently chewy feel with no dryness. Aromatically expressive, it combines those red fruits with floral notes, lifted by a subtle orange-peel freshness. Mid-palate juiciness and freshness have been enhanced by the estate’s cooler limestone subsoils. An elegant wine with very good length and a sense of understated depth.

Cigar wrappers, cedar, flowers, tobacco, black cherries, and currants create the aromatic profile. The medium-bodied palate is fresh, vibrant, and packed with tobacco-stained currants, blackberries, spice, and smoke. Elegant in style, the wine will be charming in its youth, but it also has the ability to age for 20 or more years. The wine is made from 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 12% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV, 3.54 pH. Drink from 2029-2050. 92-94 Pts

Toasted spice, coffee, cocoa bean, slate, concentrated but with real promise to unroll and unfurl, lots of dark fruits and tannins. 3.54 pH. Harvest September 3 to 29. 25% new oak. Christine and Philippe Gervoson, Charlotte Mignon is the director. This is a young team and a lot happening, plenty of investment in vineyard and cellar, agroforestry programme. Tasted twice.

Subtle and profound, the bouquet of Larrivet Haut-Brion weaves together floral nuances, aromas of ripe dark berries and aromatic herbs. The silky texture on the attack opens onto a wine with a linear, elegant progression. The fine-grained tannins deliver a highly focused power, lending precious support across the palate, while the acidity underpins the whole with a vibrant, bright energy. A wine full of verve and vigor that can be followed throughout its evolution, both young and with age. The persistent finish also highlights the precision and attention to detail found in this wine. A great success!

A dark, intense hue, almost black with purple highlights. The nose is highly aromatic and fruity, with a hint of wet leather, blackberry and blueberry. Delicate on the attack, very expressive through the mid-palate, with a slow build, a velvety body and plenty of flavour; the wine stretches out into a long, complex finish. Delicious, very fragrant, with fine-grained tannins. Bravo! Blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13% - pH: 3.54.

Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for Château Larrivet Haut-Brion 2025

Tasting

Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out with superb concentration, exuding intense scents of red fruits intertwined with delicate floral notes reminiscent of rose and violet.

Palate
Despite the warmth of the year, the palate offers remarkable balance and a decidedly refined style. The attack is broad and dense, supported by creamy tannins that lend a great deal of richness and silkiness. The freshness and harmony perceived on the nose extend with intensity through to a deep and seductive finish.

Food and Wine Pairings
This great red wine will pair wonderfully with full-flavored meats such as a grilled cut of beef, roasted lamb, or game like venison. It will also enhance a duck breast, a sauté of porcini mushrooms, dishes with Asian influences, as well as aged hard cheeses such as mature Comté, Cheddar, or Parmesan.

Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 15.5 °C. Decanting for one to two hours in its youth will allow it to release the full complexity of its aromas. This well-rounded vintage also has excellent cellaring potential.

The Elegance and Depth of a Pessac-Léognan Red Wine

The Estate
Originally known as Château de Canolle, with a first written record dating back to 1840, the estate went through several identities before becoming Château Larrivet Haut-Brion. Located in Léognan, in the heart of the Bordeaux region, this historic property was acquired in 1987 by the Gervoson family (Philippe and Christine), who restored its prestigious reputation. Now led by Charlotte Mignon, the estate has established itself as a benchmark name, recognized for the excellence of its wines, combining respect for tradition with technical innovation.

The Vineyard
Spanning 58 hectares under production, the terroir of this Pessac-Léognan estate is composed of deep gravel soils resting on a clay-sand matrix two to four meters thick, all over a limestone subsoil. The vines, with an average age of 35 years, benefit from meticulous care with rigorous plot-by-plot management.

The Vintage
The 2025 growing season was marked by a particularly hot and dry summer. Fortunately, the vines proved highly resilient by drawing on the water reserves accumulated during the rainfall of 2024. In early September, a welcome 40 mm of rain reignited and supported the ripening of the red grapes. The remainder of the month, very dry, provided ideal weather conditions to wait calmly for optimal maturity before the return of showers in late September.

Winemaking and Aging
The harvest took place by hand from September 3 to 22, with rigorous double sorting (on the table and then optical). The destemmed and uncrushed berries, including an average of 8.5% whole clusters for the Merlots and Cabernet Francs, are vatted by gravity. Plot-by-plot vinification is carried out in small temperature-controlled concrete tanks, with long macerations of four to five weeks and regular punching down of the cap. Aging takes place in new and one-year-old barrels for the Cabernets, while 5% of the Merlot is aged in terracotta amphorae. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

Grape Varieties
This blend is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 22% Cabernet Franc.
