Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Aloxe-Corton Village Domaine 2022 by Bouchard Père & Fils

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a deep, radiant garnet red hue.

Nose
Elegant and precise, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of red stone fruits, such as morello cherry and fresh blackcurrant. It is then enriched with nuances of undergrowth, accompanied by delicate spiced touches reminiscent of fine liquorice and fresh almond.

Palate
The palate opens with a bold, round attack, revealing a tannic structure that is both firm and perfectly balanced. The palate expresses delicious notes of candied cherry, enhanced by subtle touches of chocolate and coffee. The finish, with lovely persistence, closes on delicate tannins, well-integrated oak and a hint of liquorice.

Food and wine pairing

This French red wine pairs beautifully with braised red meats, coq au vin or fine cuts of grilled beef. It also pairs perfectly with roasted poultry in sauce, spiced dishes such as a meat and dried fruit tagine, as well as characterful washed-rind cheeses such as Époisses or Livarot.

Service and storage

Approachable from its youth, this Aloxe-Corton Village Domaine 2022 reveals its full tasting potential between approximately 2024 and 2030, and can be cellared for around fifteen years. For optimal enjoyment, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 16°C, decanting it lightly for 30 to 45 minutes before tasting.

The elegance and structure of a great Aloxe-Corton wine by Bouchard Père & Fils

The estate

Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père & Fils stands as the oldest wine house in Burgundy. Established in the heart of Beaune since 1820, it oversees an exceptional winegrowing heritage of 130 hectares. Recently acquired at the end of 2022 by the Artémis Domaines group, owned by the Pinault family, the house continues its pursuit of excellence under the winemaking direction of Frédéric Weber. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate stands out for its mosaic of prestigious terroirs and its historic collection of old vintage bottles.

The vineyard

Located at the crossroads between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, the Aloxe-Corton terroir benefits from a favourable eastern exposure. The vines thrive on reddish-brown soils rich in limestone and flint debris, known locally as chaillots. The upper part of the slope features marly and chalky soils, while the lower part is composed of more clay-rich soils, giving the wines a unique combination of structural power and fruity elegance.

The vintage

The year 2022 stood out for its exceptional climatic conditions, offering record sunshine and a particularly warm summer. Despite a spring frost episode with no major consequences, the vines benefited from timely, beneficial storms at the end of June. The harvest, spread from late August to mid-September, allowed grapes to be picked in perfect health, combining optimal ripeness with well-preserved freshness.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes for this Aloxe-Corton Village Domaine 2022 are hand-harvested in small crates, then rigorously sorted and destemmed. A cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out to gently extract colour and aromas. Fermentation lasts 15 to 20 days, punctuated by regular punching down and pumping over. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 20 to 30% are new, to enhance the expression of the terroir.

Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from Pinot Noir (100%).
