A Blanc de Blancs from Trépail, Combining Minerality and Biodynamic Precision

The Estate

Champagne David Léclapart was founded in 1998, when David Léclapart, a fourth-generation winegrower, gave his name to the family production he had been running since 1996 in Trépail, in the Montagne de Reims. At the helm of a biodynamically farmed vineyard, he now manages the estate single-handedly, from vine to bottle. His approach, grounded in respect for terroir and natural balance, gives rise to a limited range of single-parcel cuvées.

The Vineyard

The vineyard from which this champagne originates spans the commune of Trépail, in the Montagne de Reims, within the Champagne appellation. The Chardonnay parcels enjoy a south-easterly exposure and rest on clay-limestone soils interspersed with flint, which give the grapes lively acidity and great finesse. The vineyard is farmed entirely biodynamically, without synthetic chemical inputs, respecting the natural balance of the soil and the vine.

Winemaking and Ageing

L'Artiste Blanc de Blancs 2022 is crafted using a minimal-intervention approach, true to the estate's philosophy. Part of the must ferments in barrels, adding depth and complexity while preserving the freshness of the wine. This champagne comes from a single harvest, with no reserve wines, allowing the vintage to express itself fully. Fermentation takes place naturally with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing on the lees and then extended cellar ageing, with a very low dosage added at disgorgement.

Grape Variety

This champagne is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
