Bright and clear, the wine shows a pale gold hue lifted by slightly amber highlights.

Nose

The nose reveals a remarkable aromatic complexity. The dominant aromas evoke ripe red fruits such as wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant, alongside rose petals and orange zest. More subtle nuances gradually emerge: star anise, dried flowers, mint, mineral notes, cake spices and kirsch.

Palate

On the palate, this Champagne stands out for its lively, fresh attack, with fine tension and delicate effervescence. The wine’s structure shows a distinctive mineral drive and notes of dried fruits. Red-fruit flavors mingle harmoniously with chalky, slightly toasty mineral nuances, leading to a long, elegant finish. The wine is generous and broad-shouldered, with a silky texture and vibrant freshness.

Food and Wine Pairings

The complex aromatic profile and mineral structure of Dizy Terres Rouges 2014 make it particularly well suited to seafood and shellfish. It pairs beautifully with oysters, crab and lobster, where the Champagne’s bright acidity and chalky minerality complement maritime flavors. This Champagne also matches well with sushi or ricotta-and-spinach pasta.

An Exceptional Single-Plot Blanc de Noirs by Jacquesson

The Estate

Founded in 1798 in Châlons-sur-Marne, the Jacquesson House made its mark early on by becoming Napoleon Bonaparte’s favorite Champagne. Since December 2022, it has been owned by François Pinault and is part of the Artémis Domaines group, led by Frédéric Engerer. Based in Dizy in the Marne, the House farms 33 to 36 hectares of vineyards classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru, certified organic since 2010. Jacquesson stands out for its philosophy centered on quality over quantity, with deliberately limited production and its famous single-vineyard Lieux-Dits cuvées that reveal the unique expression of specific terroirs.

The Vineyard

Dizy Terres Rouges comes from a one-hectare, 33-are plot located at the foot of the slopes in Dizy, with an east-facing exposure. The parcel sits on deep brown-red clay-limestone soils over a chalk subsoil. Planted in 1993, it includes 12,000 Pinot Noir vines trained in permanent Cordon de Royat, a method that promotes better bunch aeration and greater aromatic concentration. The Dizy Premier Cru terroir, in the lieu-dit Terres Rouges, has been organically certified since 2010.

The Vintage

The 2014 vintage in Champagne experienced complex and changeable weather conditions. The winter of 2013-2014 was mild and exceptionally rainy, while spring 2014 was warm and very dry. July and August brought cool, very humid spells, before September salvaged the year with warm, dry and sunny conditions. This seasonal variability produced grapes with excellent alcohol-acidity balance, although some parcels suffered from very low yields.

Winemaking and Aging

Dizy Terres Rouges 2014 was vinified in oak and aged on the lees. This cuvée was disgorged in March 2023, ensuring optimal freshness upon release. The long aging on lees of this Blanc de Noirs before disgorgement allowed the Champagne to develop its aromatic complexity and depth.
