Description
The pure finesse of a perfectly balanced champagne
The estate
Founded in 1849, the Champagne Pol Roger House has, for five generations, upheld the excellence of its expertise and its perpetual quest for perfection. A benchmark beyond borders, the Pol Roger House is the official supplier to the British Crown as well as to the finest Michelin-starred tables.
As one of the last houses to still hand-riddle every champagne bottle in its entire production, Pol Roger’s uniqueness lies in its style, which authentically expresses the full potential of exceptional Champagne terroirs.
The vineyard
The Champagne Pol Roger House oversees an outstanding 92-hectare vineyard, including some of the finest plots of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
The wine
Pure Extra Brut by Pol Roger has, since its launch in 2008, offered a new tasting experience. Crafted from a blend of the three Champagne grape varieties, this cuvée delights with its balance, structure, and authentic expression of the identity of great Champagne terroirs.
Vinification and aging
A gentle pressing is carried out after harvest. An initial settling takes place at the pressing center, followed by a second settling in the house’s winery, cold (6°C) for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation at low temperature (18°C) in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Separate vinification by grape variety and by cru before the final blend. Malolactic fermentation. After blending and bottling, the secondary fermentation and aging take place in the house's historic cellars.
Pure Extra Brut by Pol Roger is aged for at least four years. After disgorgement, a further minimum aging of three months is carried out before release.
Blend
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier.
