Description
The refinement and aromatic finesse of a Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion
The estate
Château Beauséjour has been recognized since the first Saint-Émilion classification. Family-owned since 1847, this Premier Grand Cru Classé from the famous appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux was acquired in April 2021 by the Courtin-Clarins family in association with Joséphine Duffau-Lagarosse.
The vineyard
This 6.80-hectare gem is rooted on the hillside of Saint-Émilion. The 40-year-old vines are planted on a mosaic of terroirs composed of clay-limestone soils over astéries limestone. The vineyard is managed using traditional methods and is most often tended manually.
The vintage
The heavy rainfall and mild winter of 2020 promoted early bud break. The frost event on April 17 impacted the vineyard. Early June was marked by significant coolness and heavy rains, which ceased from June 19 to August 11. The wide temperature variations, cool August nights, and some rainy episodes provided ideal conditions for the proper ripening of the grapes. The summer conditions in September refined the ripeness, color and tannic structure of the berries.
Blend
This Château Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse 2020 is the result of a blend of Merlot (81%) and Cabernet Franc (19%).
