    Vinum

Dark fruit, cassis, dark chocolate, tobacco, violets on the nose; a straightforward, demanding palate with noticeable structure, pronounced tannins and acidity, the fruit is currently somewhat in the background, but this should settle with maturation, aromatically long-lasting. High quality.

Chocolate, black cherries, licorice, espresso, and flowers create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is soft, vibrant, round, and supple, with plums and cocoa that resonate from the mid-palate through to the finish. The wine blends 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2027-2040. 90-92 Pts

    Description

A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé combining elegance and creaminess

    The estate

Founded in 1823 by the Esquissaud family, Château Faugères is a standard-bearer for the Saint-Émilion appellation. Since 2005, its owner, Swiss entrepreneur Silvio Denz, has transformed the estate by investing in ultra-modern facilities, creating wines renowned for their delicate balance of power and elegance.

    The vineyard

The vineyard of Château Faugères extends over 38.40 hectares in production at Saint-Etienne de Lisse, within the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vines benefit from a clay-limestone terroir particularly well-suited to the expression of Bordeaux grape varieties. This soil, typical of the region, imparts the wines with their characteristic structure and aging potential.

    Vintage

The 2024 vintage proved particularly challenging due to unpredictable weather. High humidity and alternating rainy and sunny periods during the harvest required constant vigilance. Despite these challenges, careful planning of the picking allowed grapes to be harvested at moderate maturity.

    Vinification and aging

Vinification in stainless steel tanks with a 30-day maceration period, allowing optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. The aging, lasting 12 months, is carried out half in 225-liter barrels and half in 300-liter barrels, with a balanced distribution between new barrels (1/3), one-wine barrels (1/3) and two-wine barrels (1/3).

    Blend

This Château Faugères 2024 is the result of a blend of Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
