A vibrant, aromatic Vin de France white wine crafted by Pierre Lurton
The estate
Château Marjosse is an Entre-deux-Mers estate gradually acquired by Pierre Lurton starting in 1990, becoming his wholly owned property in 2013. The estate covers around 50 hectares of vineyards located between the Dordogne and the Garonne, fourteen kilometers south of Saint-Émilion. Led by Pierre Lurton, who also oversees Château Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem, Château Marjosse benefits from an outstanding terroir of clay-limestone soils similar to those of Saint-Émilion. The estate stands out for its innovative approach with the Anthologie collection, which showcases single-varietal, single-parcel cuvées expressing the uniqueness of each terroir.
The vineyard
Anthologie de Marjosse Cuvée Hirondelle is a Vin de France made from plots of Muscadelle planted in 1944, among the oldest vines on the estate. These vines benefit from a terroir of clay-limestone soils with deposits of asteria limestone, features that give the wine its minerality and aromatic complexity. Preserving these old vines reflects Pierre Lurton’s commitment to honoring the estate’s historic winegrowing heritage.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage benefited from favorable weather conditions that allowed optimal ripening of the white grapes, with a balance between aromatic concentration and preserved freshness.
Vinification and aging
Anthologie de Marjosse Cuvée Hirondelle 2020 is vinified according to rigorous protocols designed to preserve the grape variety’s aromatic expression. Parcel-by-parcel vinification, made possible by the estate’s modern facilities equipped with specialized vats since 2016, enables precise work on each lot. Aging is tailored to maintain the wine’s freshness and aromatic complexity.
